As much as we think we know our city, we always end up surprised how layered its history really is. It was such a delight discovering a historical-medical side of Rijeka, and an even greater one designing such a city guide. While creating A short & unpretentious historical-medical guide to Rijeka, we had to bring together three different types of content: the narrative, the city guide (maps) and the photographs. A great source of inspiration were old medical textbooks from which we borrowed some typography details. And we mustn’t leave out the wonderful photos by Ivan Vranjić, which look good even when we dissect them a bit. United under the concept “anatomy of the city” all these parts came together and resulted in a book we are quite proud of. How unpretentious of us.
